A simple
one minute addition to your plane.
On ALL of my planes having a full-flying stab (stabulator?) I always put a piece
of tape on the vertical fin with three marks (Photo 1). FULL UP stab setting
(Photo 2), NEUTRAL Stab setting (Photo 3) which is the most important mark on
the fin and a DOWN position showing where I have set the elevator compensation
on my radio for CROW landings. Crow refers to having the wing flaps down for
landing, which causes the nose of the plane to pitch up. The DOWN elevator compensation
controls this pitch up and keeps the plane coming straight in for the landing.
Whenever I make changes or adjustments to the plane or radio settings I simply
refer to my marks on the fin to see if the changes are in the correct direction.
I can always go back to my original marks to easily get the plane into proper
trim.
