The May club contest for sailplanes became hampered by the changing wind directions and velocity. I think everyone still had a good time and I didn't see any broken pieces being stuffed into the trunks of any cars.

Because I permitted at least two planes per pilot, we had a total of eleven entries for eight pilots. The club trainer showed it's worth as Geary Keilman flew it to a solid first place. Geary is a very experienced pilot who, unfortunately, does not get much of a chance to fly due to other commitments (like work).

As the wind increased several of the guys decided not to complete all of their flights. Not a bad decision as they will be back to fly another day.

I called for three rounds of five minutes plus a 25 point landing tape. The maximum possible score was 975. The results were:

1. Geary Keilman - 821
2. Roger Taylor - 811(plane #1)
3. John Wynn - 605
4. Rick Stone - 578 (plane #1)
5. Ray DiNoble - 499 (plane #2) - DNF
6. Ray DiNoble - 370 (plane #1) - DNF
7. Mac Crockett - 356
8. Ed Jennings - 329
9. Rick Stone - 126 (plane #2) - DNF
Neither Roger Taylor (plane #2) or Allen Gottlieb completed the first flights due to 'other' problems.

One note: John Wynn learned how to fly into a strong headwind today. By 'tacking' back and forth at about 45 degrees into the wind, John got his Paragon back home, from a LONG way out for a maximum flight. Nice flying John.

Thanks to everyone who flew today and to those who did not fly but came out to watch the action and cheer the fliers on.
